Friday, February 21 – Carnival Fun for the Family
Children’s Museum of Athens, Larissa Station Children’s Library, St. Paul’s Square – From 11am
Families can enjoy interactive art workshops like Funny Glasses 5pm-8pm) and The Carnival of Animals storytelling sessions. Meanwhile, St. Paul’s Square will host a lively children’s carnival celebration with face painting, a carousel, and a marching band.
Saturday, February 22 – A City in Motion
Monastiraki Square, Kotzia Square, Kypseli, Plato Academy, Dourgouti Park, and more – From 10:30am
The heart of Athens pulses with parades, reenactments of Greek Carnival customs, and endless entertainment. A must-see event is the Parade of Carnival Crowds at 11am, featuring dancers from all over Greece. At 12pm, Kypseli Square welcomes the Quilombo percussion ensemble for an Afro-Brazilian musical spectacle. The day wraps up with traditional dance performances and a festive concert by the Big Band of the Municipality of Athens at Dionysios Areopagitos Pedestrian Street.

Sunday, February 23: The Grand Treasure Hunt & Cultural Revelry
Mets, Monastiraki, Zappeion, Thissio, and more – From 10am
Families and adventure-seekers will love the 14th Treasure Hunt in Mets, uncovering hidden secrets of Athens’ historical landmarks. Meanwhile, Plaka and Thissio come alive with street performances, Greek folk dancing, and live music. Zappeion will be buzzing with stilt walkers, circus artists, and face painters.
Saturday, March 1: Outdoor Theater & Digital Art
Klafthmonos Square, Art Gallery – From 11am
Step back in time with Two Grooms – One Bride, a theatrical performance by the Zakynthian Folk Theater, bringing 17th-century Carnival humor to life. For tech-savvy visitors, the Digital Costumes with VR Mask event at the Art Gallery (5pm) lets children design their own Carnival costumes in a futuristic fashion experience.
Sunday, March 2: The Ultimate Parade & Party!
Syntagma Square, Kotzia Square – From 5pm
The biggest spectacle of the Athenian Carnival! The Great Carnival Parade will fill Syntagma Square with floats, performers, and the rhythmic beats of percussion ensembles, followed by a grand concert by Decibel Band at Kotzia Square at 7pm.
Monday, March 3: Clean Monday at Philopappou Hill
Philopappou Hill – From 11am
Carnival ends on a high note with Koulouma, a traditional Greek feast featuring Lenten delicacies and folk music by Giota Griva. Don’t miss the musical walk by the Philharmonic Orchestra at 11am!
