The geological profile of the city of Athens is quite interesting. Surrounded by three mountains, Athens is actually a valley ending to the sea, the port of Pereaus. Around the city you will find many hills and one of them is Lycabettus. 227 metres above the city and with a 360 view, this hill is the best place to enjoy a sunset.
You can take the lift and go up to visit the church of Saint George or even walk, it will not take you more than 30 minutes. Throughout your way up you will see locals promanading with their dogs and you can stop to have a coffee at the green kiosk. Once you reach the top the view of the city will be breathtaking and you can enjoy your dinner up there in the Lycabettus restaurant. You will also see the open air theatre which has hosted in the past many popular artists like Ray Charles, UB40, Patti Smith, Bob Dylan and many more.
