Looking for the most joyful (and unexpected) Christmas event in Athens this holiday season? Dust off your Santa hat, lace up your running shoes, and get ready for the Athens Santa Run 2025, a feel-good celebration combining fitness, festive cheer, and giving back, right in the historic city centre.
On 21 December 2025, runners of all ages and abilities are invited to turn Athens red and white, as the city hosts one of its most cheerful winter events. You may be a seasoned runner, a casual jogger, or simply in it for the Christmas vibes, but this run is all about fun, community, and holiday spirit.
A Christmas Run with a Cause
Organised by the City of Athens in collaboration with Greece’s largest running club, the Offline Running Association, the Athens Santa Run is more than just a race.
All participants help support:
The City of Athens Reception and Solidarity Center (KYADA), assisting people facing poverty and social exclusion.
The Culture, Sports & Youth Organisation of the City of Athens, funding new sports equipment for local programs.
Running has never felt so meaningful, every step truly counts.
The Route: A Festive Tour of Athens’ Icons
Starting at 10:00 am from Athens City Hall (Kotzia Square), runners will follow a scenic 2.8 km route through some of the most iconic streets of the Greek capital:
Athinas Street, with stunning views of the Acropolis
Ermou Street, Athens’ vibrant shopping avenue
Turn at Agion Asomaton
Down Peiraios Street toward Omonoia Square
Finish back at Athens City Hall
Short, sweet, and spectacular, perfect for runners of all fitness levels, families, and children.
Who Can Join?
- 1,000 adult runners (registration required)
- 300 children participate for FREE
This is a non-competitive, inclusive event, designed to bring together locals, visitors, families, and friends; all dressed as Santa, of course!
Race Pack & Santa Costume
Participants can collect their race pack on the day of the event at Kotzia Square, including: Official Santa costume, Finisher’s medal, Gifts from event sponsors.
Arrive early, suit up, and soak in the festive atmosphere before the run begins.
