Athens City Festival: Reimagining Urban Spaces – Athens’ Car-Free Experiment

Imagine a full weekend in Athens where the streets are yours to roam, free from the hustle and bustle of traffic.

This September, on the 21st of Saturday from 8 pm at Kotzia Square, the Athens City Festival is transforming Athena Street into a pedestrian-friendly paradise through the Athens without Car activity series. For two days (until Sunday 22nd), the city will come alive with a vibrant mix of family-friendly activities, live music, and cultural events.

From biking to skating, movies to music, there’s something for everyone. Join for a weekend of fun, friendship, and sustainability.

For those who love the thrill of the open road, the festival offers a variety of cycling activities. Learn how to maintain your bike, participate in a time trial, or even create your own piece of art using bicycle wheels.

If you’re more of a skater, the Skate Jam is the place to be. Show off your skills or simply enjoy learning from others. And for the little ones, there are plenty of activities to keep them entertained, from face painting to storytelling.

As the sun sets, the festival takes on a magical atmosphere. Enjoy a classic film under the stars or dance the night away to live music.

But it’s not just about fun and games. The Athens City Festival is also a celebration of sustainability. By promoting car-free transportation, the event aims to reduce pollution and create a healthier, more livable city.

Take the chance and come to experience a car-free city and envision a greener future!
