Currency

The monetary unit in Greece is the Euro & no other currency is accepted. It is best to exchange money at banks or official exchange agencies because in the most touristy areas a high commission is charged. Travellers Checks are also readily accepted and if you are low on cash ATM machines are readily available.

Personal checks are not accepted in Greece and although credit card use is widely accepted in the larger cities, some of the smaller villages & islands may have limited acceptability.
