Athens is all set to dazzle this Christmas season!
The Municipality of Athens is pulling out all the stops to create a truly magical holiday experience. On Thursday, November 28th, 2024, at 6 PM, Syntagma Square will be transformed into a winter wonderland, marking the start of the festive season.
A Fairy Tale Christmas
This year, Athens is channeling its inner fairytale. The city will be illuminated with stunning lights, festive decorations, and captivating installations. Iconic landmarks and neighborhoods will be adorned with colorful LED lanterns and recycled ornaments, creating a breathtaking sight.
The Heart of the Celebration: Syntagma Square
The centerpiece of the festivities will be the magnificent 20-meter Christmas tree in Syntagma Square – we advise everyone to go, see, and capture its beauty, take photos, and experience the charm.
Decorated with thousands of ornaments, the tree will be a sight to behold. The lighting ceremony will be hosted by the beloved duo, Nancy Zampetoglou and Thanasis Anagnostopoulos, and will feature a performance by Nefeli Fasouli and the Athens Big Band.
A City-Wide Fest
The Christmas spirit will spread throughout the city. Ermou Street, KAPAPS Park, Papandreika Settlement, Drakopoulos Park, and Tralleon Street will be illuminated, creating a festive atmosphere. The National Garden will also be adorned with festive decorations, offering a magical experience for visitors.
A Sustainable Christmas
The Municipality of Athens is committed to an eco-friendly Christmas. The tree decorations are made from recycled materials, and the tree itself will be repurposed after the holidays.
