Athens is a city that lives and breathes culture and every winter (or summer), that love for stories, ideas, and imagination comes alive at Klafthmonos Square. From January 23 to February 15, 2026, the capital welcomed back one of its most cherished traditions: the 29th Book Bazaar 2026, the largest and longest-running book fair in Athens.
For nearly three decades, this event has drawn book lovers of all ages, offering an unbeatable combination of thousands of book titles, iconic publishers, and prices starting from just 1 euro. If you’re visiting Athens during winter, or you’re a local looking for a cultural escape, this is an experience not to miss.
A Literary Institution Loved for 28 Years
Organized by the Book Publishers Association (SEKB) and the Panhellenic Federation of Publishers and Booksellers (POEB), the Book Bazaar takes place under the auspices of the Municipality of Athens, with the support of OPANDA (Culture, Sports and Youth Organization of the Municipality of Athens).

With over 200 publishers from all over Greece participating, the 29th Book Bazaar brings together more than 9,000 book titles, spanning every genre imaginable from literature and poetry to children’s books, history, philosophy, art, cookbooks, and academic publications.
A book fair like this is always a celebration of reading, accessibility, and the power of books to shape minds and communities.
Books for Everyone, Prices for Everyone
One of the reasons Athenians and visitors return year after year is simple: affordability without compromise. At the Book Bazaar 2026, visitors can browse an impressive variety of titles and unique handmade notebooks at deeply discounted prices, starting from just €1.
So, here is our advised ‘to do’s list’:
Hunting for literary gems (poetry collections, modern – classic works & more)
Building your dream home library on a budget
Looking for children’s tales, comics & gifts
Exploring Greek publishing and authors
Find something worth taking home.
And with its outdoor yet covered setup, Klafthmonos Square transforms into a welcoming cultural hub, rain or shine.
